DORIS assessed methane abatement opportunities at key emitting oil and gas assets in Ukraine to support the development of practical emissions reduction solutions.
Project outline
The Methane Emissions Assessment for Ukraine (Phase 2) built on earlier national-level work by focusing on four priority emitting assets within the upstream oil and gas sector. The objective was to review reported methane emissions, identify the most significant sources at asset level and assess cost-effective abatement opportunities to support future investment and implementation planning.
Services delivered by DORIS
DORIS reviewed OGMP 2.0 methane emissions data alongside wider operator and sector information to identify the most material emission sources and prioritise four key assets for detailed assessment. This asset-level analysis provided the basis for screening practical methane abatement technologies matched to site-specific emissions profiles.
Concept solutions included LDAR, equipment upgrades, vapour recovery and flare improvements. DORIS then developed economic models to assess CAPEX, OPEX, abatement potential and cost-effectiveness to 2040, providing practical investment insights to support future methane reduction planning in Ukraine.
