Project outline
The Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU) Pilot Concept Design evaluated technical options to capture and monetise hydrocarbon vapours currently flared or vented. The objective was to define a technically feasible and commercially viable pilot solution to demonstrate emissions reduction potential.

DORIS developed concept-level engineering designs for a pilot vapour recovery unit, including process configuration, equipment sizing and integration with existing facilities. The study evaluated technical feasibility, operational constraints and safety considerations associated with retrofitting capture systems.
High-level capital and operating cost estimates were prepared, supported by techno-economic analysis to assess payback potential and emissions reduction impact. Implementation risks and regulatory considerations were identified, and alternative configurations were compared.
The outcome provided a robust basis for progressing to detailed design and investment approval, demonstrating how flaring and venting emissions could be reduced while generating commercial value.
