DORIS was tasked to provide support to Kazakhstan’s NOC (KazMunayGas) for emissions reporting under the UNEP OGMP 2.0 framework.
Project outline
The objective was to provide verification of KMG’s OGMP emissions inventory report and develop an Implementation Plan to demonstrate how KMG intends to meet the OGMP “Gold Standard Pathway” for methane emissions management. Support was provided for OGMP submissions in 2024 and 2025.
Services delivered by DORIS
DORIS provided an experienced consultancy team with strong oil and gas and environmental regulatory expertise to review KMG’s OGMP methane emissions inventory and support the development of an Implementation Plan demonstrating a robust approach to methane emissions management.
For 2024 OGMP 2.0 reporting, DORIS independently benchmarked and verified draft emissions data developed using a third-party tool, applying industry-recognised criteria. The verified data was visualised to identify key emitting assets, emission sources, and abatement opportunities, with repeat analysis in 2025 enabling assessment of year-on-year emissions performance.
DORIS supported the preparation of KMG’s OGMP 2.0 Implementation Plan from its initial submission in 2024 through to the 2025 update, working closely with KMG’s technical team to refine policies, targets, abatement strategies, and reporting improvements. The 2025 submission incorporated updated commitments, UNEP feedback, and emissions data consolidation, with UNEP commending the quality and content of the final Plan.
